How to Pause or Stop the Automation for a Specific Lead

If you've manually reached out to a lead outside of Sendpilot, you may want to stop the automation for that lead so they don't receive further messages from your sequence. This article explains how to do that.

How Sendpilot handles manual outreach

Sendpilot does not automatically detect when you message a lead outside the platform. Sending a LinkedIn message or connection request manually will not pause the sequence.

The automation for a lead only stops when one of the following happens:

  • You remove the lead from the campaign

  • You update the lead's status to "Wrong Person" manually

  • The lead sends you a message

  • The sequence ends

If none of these happen, the campaign continues running for that lead.

How to stop the automation for a specific lead

Open your campaign and go to the "Leads" tab. Search for the lead by name.

Once you find the lead, select them. You then have two options.

Option 1: Remove the lead from the campaign

  • Click "Remove Lead." This removes the lead from the campaign entirely and stops all automation for them.

Use this if you no longer want to track this lead in the campaign at all.

Option 2: Change the lead status to "Wrong Person"

  • If you want to keep the lead in the campaign but stop the sequence from running, go to "Lead Status" and select "Wrong Person."

This pauses the workflow for that lead without removing them from the campaign.

The lead stays visible in your leads list but receives no further automated actions.
